Hello Garry, Thanks for your comment. Yes, the jargon does make the journey more difficult and I apologize. The problem is that the notion of the Self as Jung developed it gets closest in my mind to describing the depth of the experience that Trump activates n the MAGA faithful and why it remains so mysterious to us unless we invoke something like the psycho-spiritual reality of the Self. I would love to find a non jargon way of describing the same thing and welcome any suggestions.....thanks. Tom

Tom, I appreciate your use of Jungian terms. I read everything published by Jung in the 70's and since by Neo Jungians, like Von Franz Puer, and currently the problem of evil in fairy tales. I have been searching for exactly what is happening with Trump. Why does psychological projection work so well for him? How did he open this hole in the collective conscious? What are we to do to fix it. I am just making a conjecture, but I think we were ripe for a rupture. We were cruising along like Job following the book of laws in our constitution when we ran into a complete disruption via the pandemic and Trump to take advantage of the recovery. Trump put in play the archetype of Wotan as Orderer of everything. We are all now in the position of Job. I really don't know how we work out of this collectively. I am pushing the idea of narrative which is why I am reading Von Franz.I am searching for images and metaphors. We need to go back to the founders but they had the myth of christianity to follow. I really don't know but. I know there is little time to waste. I am hoping you will solve the puzzle.
